Because no child should grow up in a world designed to addict them
No child should grow up in a world designed to addict them. Your contribution helps protect a whole generation from nicotine addiction and keeps public health at the center of Europe’s future.

The tobacco pandemic causes the death of 700.000 European citizens every year. Compared to the rest of the world, the WHO European Region has one of the highest proportions of deaths attributable to tobacco with around 50% of smokers dying prematurely from tobacco-related diseases such as various types of cancer, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

Across Europe, young people face an aggressive wave of new nicotine products: flavored vapes, disposable e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches, synthetic nicotine. These products move faster than regulation and are marketed where children are most vulnerable: online, on social media, and in their everyday environments.

At the same time, EU operating grants for civil society have been suspended. The tobacco and nicotine industry is accelerating. Public health voices need support to keep up.

Your donation supports ENSP to:

  • Provide independent, evidence-based expertise to policymakers;
  • Help countries implement the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control;
  • Counter the spread of new nicotine products that target minors;
  • Strengthen prevention, cessation, and enforcement measures across Europe;
  • Amplify youth voices and protect the next generation.
What your donation makes possible

Since 1997, the European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSP) has been a European focal point for tobacco control. We are an independent network that brings together more than 80 organisations in 38 countries, all working to protect health and save lives.

Your donation supports ENSP to:

  • Provide independent, evidence-based expertise to policymakers
  • Help countries implement the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control
  • Counter the spread of new nicotine products that target minors

Tobacco-Free Advent Calendar 2025

On December 1st, the Tobacco Free Advent Calendar 2025 officially launched, organised by the Youth Group of the European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSPNext) and the International Youth Health Organization. TFAC25 aims to empower students and youth to advocate for their own mental, physical and economical health.

We are honored to announce, that after a week since launch TFAC achieved:

  • 40,000+ impressions on social media
  • 4,500 impressions on the digital advent calendar
  • 1,500 active users

Now, users from 65 different countries across 6 continents are accessing the digital calendar to prepare for Christmas while advocating for students' mental, physical, and economic health.

National partners in Serbia (the National Initiative of Non-Smokers and the Institute of Economic Sciences Belgrade) translated the calendar into Serbian and successfully engaged Serbian users. Only Romania noted more users than Serbia, while Los Angeles, USA, noted the third most users.

More activities are planned in the coming weeks, including research efforts coordinated by our youth leaders with mentees and mentors from the ENSP Network.

Your Investment: Proven Results
We need your help to keep the Advent Calendar freely accessible!

Our preliminary cost-effectiveness analysis shows remarkable returns. For every €1 invested:

  • 7 students receive support.
  • Our campaign reached 664 unique accounts (93.6% of which are new audiences).

This serves as proof of concept: investing in youth leaders in tobacco control yields incredible returns on investment. ENSPNext, YHO, and all participating youth organisations have proven themselves as respectable, high-impact NGOs.

Call for Applications:
JA PreventNCD Youth Advisory Group 2026 Cohort

JA PreventNCD is now accepting applications for the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) 2026 Cohort. We are looking for 30–40 young people aged 18–35 from across Europe to help bring youth perspectives into our work on preventing cancer and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The Youth Advisory Group ensures that prevention efforts remain connected to the realities, needs, and priorities of younger generations. By sharing ideas and recommendations, YAG members help strengthen how policies and strategies are shaped, communicated, and implemented across Europe.

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from young people across Europe, including:

  • Individuals aged 18–35
  • Representatives of youth organisations
  • People from diverse backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, and regions

No previous knowledge or experience in the health field is required. If you have an interest in your own health and the wellbeing of communities, you are warmly invited to apply.

What does the Youth Advisory Group do?

YAG members contribute by:

  • Sharing youth perspectives on prevention topics relevant to JA PreventNCD
  • Providing feedback and recommendations that help guide project activities
  • Helping ensure that solutions are meaningful and effective for young people
Cancer and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) represent a significant portion of the disease burden in Europe, much of which is preventable. The Joint Action Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (JA PreventNCD) project is designed to address this challenge by supporting strategies and policies that aim to reduce the burden of cancer and NCDs, focusing on both personal and societal risk factors.
